 Desenele, schițele premergătoare lucrărilor Manei Bucur, trădează afinitatea pentru sculptură şi pentru un delicat grafism, pe care-l regăsim condus cu abilitate în semnele caligrafiate pe unele dintre obiectele de porțelan – regal al ceramicii –, dând un aer de eleganță.
„De ce creez obiecte ceramice? Îmi place desigur să şi desenez, să pictez, să sculptez – iar în final să văd cum prin foc se transformă totul, ca o magie. Pentru mine a fost o decizie timpurie să fac ceramică, iar acum îmi dau seama din ce în ce mai mult că am făcut o alegere bună.
Există foarte multe modalități de expresie în variate materiale cum ar fi argila, gresia, faianța, porțelanul. Chiar dacă ele sunt asociate mai degrabă cu zona decorativă, aceste materiale pot reda foarte subtil expresii ale unor stări, obsesii, idei la fel de bine ca orice material folosit în alte sfere artistice.

Ca orice artist, mă preocupă teme majore și minore deopotrivă. Eu le numesc obsesii și pot să spun că am două astfel de obsesii. Una dintre ele ar fi ideea majoră a dualității vieții.
Dualitățile ne urmăresc pe tot parcursul vieţii : benefic/malefic, angelic/demonic, bine/rău, pacific/belicos, adevăr/minciună ca să enumăr doar cîteva dintre ele. Cealaltă obsesie a mea, care-şi are originile chiar în copilărie, este legată de ideea de cub sau a enigmaticei cutii închise, generatoare de mister și dorința de descoperire. Cutia poate fi o surpriză plăcută sau cât se poate de neplăcută.....Momentul “prima vista” al unei cutii sau al unui ambalaj este plin de mister/surpriză. Acesta este momentul pe care vreau să-l imortalizez de fapt în lucrările mele. Deschiderea cutiei topește mirajul, indiferent dacă ceea ce găsești înăuntru este bun sau rău....Un titlu precum « Capcane » este o direcționare pentru decriptarea a ceea ce vreau să exprim. Iată un exemplu:

The drawings, the sketches preceding Mana's works, betray the affinity for sculpture and for a delicate graphism, which we find led skillfully in the calligraphy signs on some of the porcelain objects - the royal ceramics -, giving an air of elegance.

“Why do I create ceramic objects? I like to draw, paint, sculpt - and finally see how everything turns through fire in magic. For me, it was an early decision to make ceramics, and now I realize more and more that I made a good choice.
There are many ways of expression in various materials such as clay, sandstone, faience, porcelain. Even if they are associated with the decorative area, these materials can reproduce very subtle expressions of states, obsessions, ideas as well as any material used in other artistic spheres.
Like any artist, I'm concerned about major and minor issues alike. I call them obsessions, and I can say I have two such obsessions. One of them would be the major idea of ​​the duality of life. Dualities follow us all the time: beneficial vs evil, angelic vs. demonic, good vs bad, pacifism vs. war, truth vs lie to list just a few of them. My other obsession, which has its origins even in childhood, is related to the idea of ​​cubes or enigmatic closed boxes, creating mystery and desire for discovery. The box may be a pleasant surprise or as unpleasant ..... The moment "first vista" of a box or a pack is full of mystery/surprise. This is the moment I want to actually immortalize in my works. Opening the box melts the mirage, even if what you find inside is good or bad... A title like "Traps" is a target for decrypting what I want to say. For example:
